Fatuma Nakkazi- Kakande studied Counseling Psychology at Kyambogo University and she is a Masters of Public Health Scholar with a bias in Reproductive Health at Makerere University School of Public Health. She has carried out extensive research in the field of Adolescence Reproductive Health and HIV and AIDS and holds publications under Kyambogo University and Makerere University School of Public Health.
Fatuma has had a solid working experience. She has previously worked with two former banks Uganda commercial Bank and Greenland Bank Limited as a Banking Officer; Uganda AIDS Control Project as a Technical Resource Person; Uganda Bureau of Statistics as an administrator on the 2001/2002 Population and Housing Census Project; AIDS Health Care Foundation/Uganda Cares (Masaka) as senior program counselor .She was part of the Technical Working Group formed by the Uganda AIDS Commission and Ministry of Local Government to develop the HIV/ AIDS Standard Strategic planning guide that was used by local governments.
At the Forum for Women in Democracy (FOWODE) Fatuma has extensively trained women politicians at both local and national level to enhance their legislative capacities. She has provided training and consultancy services in Gender, Reproductive Health, HIV and AIDS to (AMICAALL) Alliance of Mayors and Municipal Leaders on HIV / AIDS in Africa. She was a master trainer with the JohnsHopkins University School of Public Health – Centre for Communication Programs(Uganda) executing a Social and Behavior Change Communication project in I7 UNICEF supported districts in the country.
What To Know
She has also provided counseling services as a Volunteer at NaguruTeenage Centre, Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Uganda. Fatuma heads the directorate for women and children under Buganda Kingdom Ministry of Gender and Community Development. She is a prolific event organizer, at the forefront of organizing the annual Buganda Women’s Convention, the massive Community Work Week (Bulungibwansi) in addition to other high profile events.
